Before Sending a Request

Give the full name, approximate date, known agency, and exact record type. State whether you seek an incident report, arrest report, booking sheet, photograph, or court record. Iowa Code chapter 22 allows written, telephone, or electronic requests subject to lawful exceptions and the custodian's process. Ask about electronic delivery, cost, and the legal basis for any withholding.
